The FLOWCHEM® processes stop corrosion and scale formation in steam power plants.
The targets of modern, safe and low energy steam power plants are:- to avoid scale formation
- to reduce corrosion of metals
- to avoid draining of boiler water
Some examples to demonstrate:
![]() |
| Blistered boiler tube |
For many reasons local hot areas may have harmful effects on the boiler tube. In this case the wall tube was overheated long-term by deposits of ferrous oxide causing short but strong local overheatings.
Stress-crack corrosion breaking in an inner tube
This type of corrosion takes place when boiler water steam is concentrated in a crack or under scales.
Attack of acid in a boiler tube.
Extreme surface corrosion is caused by cleaning a boiler with acid or by leaking mineral acid. In such cases the affected part of the equipment should be disused.
